Upgrades today
Today we’re performing an automatic upgrade for those of you who haven’t updated your galleries lately. We’re going through and adding your old images to our latest database; you don’t have to do anything on your end, except be a little bit patient while the upgrade takes effect.
What’s new?
- Everyone now gets 50 images, free of charge. (We continue to gradually increase this quota, and we’ll continue increasing it as our budget allows.)
- You can now organize your images into multiple galleries—you can use this to sort them into various slideshows and stories.
- You can add an audio soundtrack to any gallery, in MP3 format. You can also set custom timing on your images. (The default is 2 seconds per image.)
- The Flash slideshow’s updated: you can navigate among galleries, and fullscreen mode is built-in.
If you’ve been updating your Lightstalkers galleries lately, this isn’t news—today’s update only affects those who haven’t made any changes in the last several months.
As always, this is all possible due to financial support from our members and our sponsors. We’re continuing to add features and storage capacity, and you can help by making a donation today.
Thanks everyone,

Thanks Shinji, will our old sizes will look right in the new gallery? If when the updating is done, we want to delete/add/change images, we can do that without pulling down the whole gallery?
|
BTW, I noticed my profile pic was bigger than before, and the resolution no longer looks right, so will you be changing it back or should I/we reload the profile pics?
|
Hi Erica, good questions both…
- Generally speaking, upgraded images will look fine in the new system. If you’re one of the few people who uploaded small originals (ie, less than 800×600px), you may see a difference. It’s easy to fix—just replace the affected image.
- Profile pics have also been upgraded, yes, but again, this will only affect people who uploaded very small originals. If you see a problem, try replacing it with a new photo—that should set you straight.

Hi Shinji:
First of all thanks for all your hard work making and maintaining LS the amazing tool it is.
Second a little question so we don’t need to re upload our pics after the upgrades, right?! I posed this question as I logged in and can’t see any pics on my gallery and when I select my galleries gives my a message to start uploading pics to create my gallery…
Many cheers,
Armando

Armando—right, it’s automatic, you don’t have to do anything. I checked and your photos are definitely in the queue.

Shinji You are an absolute genius!
Plus a gentleman and a scholar!
Thankyou so much for all of this, I’m slack on the update, but you are bringing me up-to-date, without any effort on my part!
Thankyou a million times for being the Cruise Director- it has- and always will be an interesting ride!

Shinji:
Many thanks once more. Stay safe.
Armando
