usage permission for books

Hi,

I need some help from you my friends.

Recently someone from Claremont McKenna College has asked for my permission to use some of my photographs in his book. However I don’t have any previous experience of selling photos for books, so I am unsure of how to approach it; especially regarding pricing and usage terms and conditions. Also am curious what type of permission I need to have from the persons appearing in my photographs, and if I can’t trace them out again then what should I do.

The man wants my reply at the earliest so I am in some urgency regarding this. Please help me.

what I can remember now is here in LS there is a thread that discusses about selling photographs for books. But I cant find it by searching. Can anyone please give me it?

Also I want to hear what my other friends have to suggest me.
