GalleryRecent PostFEMA trailerpark policy change (from Louisiana)In regards to the Femapark posting/question (for folks covering the anniversary of Katrina) – welp – “they†aren’t arresting reporters at the gates anymore……. Thanks to one very intrepid journalist, Sandy Davis of “The Advocate†in Baton Rouge LA – FEMA has rescinded it’s no press policy on trailer parks: http://www.2theadvocate.com/news/3425616.html?showAll=y&c=y I asked Sandy if this new rule of FEMA’s was state or maybe parish specific – she said nope, her understanding is that it’s statewide…… So I trekked to the “notorious†Baker LA park yesterday to check it out, and the guards were so hospitable I almost expected them to fetch me a cold drink – as a matter of fact, we had no problems whatsoever. If the above link doesn’t work: www.2theadvocate.com and do a site search for Sandy Davis, she wrote a number of other articles leading up to the policy change. (“They†are, however, still fussing about traffic violations…..a friend of mine was pulled over for speeding in Jefferson Parish. Next thing you know his vehicle was towed away (for some kind of minor insurance issue). No kidding. And, the cop wouldn’t give him a ride – he was left stranded on the side of the highway! Uh gulp and there’s more….he has Jefferson Parish cop friends but that didn’t even help! I don’t speed in Louisiana, period.) |
