About

Veronika Lukasova was born in 1974 in the city of Brno, in the former Czechoslovak Socialistic Republic. She has always had an interest in photography which was mostly self taught. In 1998 she moved to Washington DC, USA, and began pursuing a career in photography including studying at the Maine Photographic Workshops and The Woodstock Center for Photography in New York.

Lukasova’s curiosity in peculiar and quintessentially American life led to projects on County Fairs, Demolition Derbies, American Seniors, and Christian themed amusement parks. Her large-scale panorama project Occurrences offers a surrealistic look at American, Czech, British, Colombian and Libyan landscapes.

Lukasova’s work has been published widely throughout the world, including being a regular contributor to The Washington Post Magazine and The New York Times. Her work was also selected in the 2007 exhibit and book project A Day in the life of the Czech Republic. Veronika has been awarded numerous honors, including awards from the Women in Photography International, Prix de la photographie Paris, International Photography Awards and in addition was selected as a nominee for the World Press Photo Joop Swart Master Class.

Veronika’s work has been exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions throughout the United States and the Czech Republic. Her work is in the collection of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Washington DC and many private collections.
