Video-agency, is there such a thing?

Hello all,

A friend of mine is about to launch himself as an independent videographer. His idea is producing feature and journalistic stories and then put it on the market. Pretty much the same as we are used to do with photography. He asked me for some agencies in order to represent him and sell his work. Do you guys have ever heard about that?

Any hint would be really appreciated.

there are a few artist reps that represent videographers for assignments such as “the Lorna Dave agency”, but i don’t know of any that sell private stock like in the photo world. usually freelance cameramen get listed with their local APtv or Reuters bureau and local TV stations as freelance for assignments, as for selling his own stuff, he’s pretty much on he’s own…

I’d suggest that your friend hang out a while at Current TV and peruse the message boards there. Perhaps sign up and ask for a stear.

Thank you all for your responses. As I’ve imagined, this market is not (yet) on fire. But I truly believe these answers will be completely different in 4 or 5 years…
