So I’m planning a little trip to the Middle East starting in January and am working out the visas. I’ve been in touch with the Syrian Embassy in London, Ottawa and D.C. The one in D.C. offers a 6-month visa, the embassy in London (where I’ll be for a bit before heading off) won’t issue visas to non-UK citizens, and the Ottawa embassy only issues 3-month visas. So, while I may just go for the (more expensive) 6-month visa, I was thinking of stopping in Syria’s embassy in Islamabad. Anyone know if they have a problem there issuing to non-Pakistanis? Anyone actually applied for a Syrian visa there? Does it seem crazy to anyone else that they would not issue a visa unless you are of that country where the embassy is located?
Also, I plan on heading south from Israel into Egypt. But apparently to get past the Suez Canal area, I can’t just get use my visa on arrival; I have to get a visa from an embassy or consulate, I have been informed. So anyone — I’m Canadian and American — ever apply for a visa at the Egyptian embassy in Tel Aviv? If so how long did that take?
Thanks much for any info/advice you can provide.
