Originally from Montreal, Canada, I am based in Hanoi, Vietnam, where I have lived since 2002. I am the chief Vietnam photographer for epa, and also do regular freelance editorial and commercial work. In 2009 I won a World Press Photo award, and a Sony World Photography award, for work from the Beijing Olympics.
In November 2007 I went on a two-week exploratory motorcycle trip down the old Ho Chi Minh Trail in Laos with a pair of Vietnam War veterans. Much of the trail is disappearing – eaten by the jungle, repaved by Vietnamese logging companies, or soon to be flooded by dam projects. 2009 marks the 50th anniversary of the trail.
