I am a professional photographer based in Vancouver, Canada. Born in Detroit, I worked as a scientist researching and developing materials, such as new films. But in the evenings, my interest piqued in another kind of lab: the darkroom at Chicago’s Jane Addams Center. A career flip came after two mergers and a pink slip, when I made the move north (and west) across the 49th parallel.
My photos are widely circulated in commercial & editorial uses. Last year, a national magazine commissioned me for a cover-shoot with Lululemon Athletica’s CEO. My artwork appears alongside that of Joel Meyerowitz, Trent Parke and other notable documentary photographers in the prestigious Format Festival Catalogue and was used to promote the In Construction exhibition at Spain’s Bòlit Contemporary Art Center. I regularly author articles for magazines, such as Photosho and Street Reverb. This year, PhotoEd Magazine interviewed me alongside In-Public’s founding member Nick Turpin. The Boston Review, the CBC and Condé Nast have featured my work and my prints are displayed in fine art venues, such as Third Floor Gallery in Wales and numerous privately held collections. I am a founding member of the Strange.rs Collective.
My personal photography delves into social aspects of people inhabiting the built environment. The contemporary work offers a theatrical mood, incorporating aesthetics that set the stage for the candor of classic street photography but with a post-modern psyche. Since the birth of my twin daughters, my family has become an integral part of my pictorial narratives.
I am available for a variety of projects, both near and abroad, including commissions, portraits, and weddings + events. Please contact me to discuss your project.
