what is there to hide?
Quite strange, its been removed very precisely, but there used to be something there. Theres no reason it should be blacked out, I wonder who owns the property. It goes right across the border too. Contact google.

Maybe they’re oil pipeline related. To thwart "terrorists".
|
Could be, but the areas are huge, were talking 10+ square miles if someone has something THAT big that they need to hide, they are crazy.
|
The second one is in siberia.
|
One similarity of the two places is that they are both located in very remote and cold places , Perfect location to hide a few buildings … I feel like getting a GPS and heading out there with my camera!
|
These black boxes may just be connected to problems imaging the areas, due to the sats being unable to leave their orbits. The satellites may not be able to cover everything and since these areas are quite barren and boring, nobody cares. Or this is where the UFO’s landed and no one wants YOU to know! :)
|
I send an email to the google press department, asking what exactly is under the black cover. No replay yet. Will take them some days.
Regards Heinrich

Here comes the amswer of google:
“Hello Heinrich,
We appreciate your taking the time to contact us. The area you have noticed has a problem with overlap of the image tiles. The tiles do not correctly align and thus there is the black area. We will report this error to our data production team.
Should you need further assistance, please reply to this message.
Thank you for using Google Earth, The Google Earth Support Team”
How boring!!!!!!! ;)

Ahem…. Heinrich, I see you are in Spain. Like they say over here, in English of course, and with the cute initials "BS", what they told you is a load of "mierda de toro"... Well, at least they replied… :-) Luis
|
Luis, thanks for the kind words. Why is it BS? And at least I made the efford and asked them. And they replied, pretty fast tambien.
So tell me the secret?
|
Could be a runway for something…the runway for the Project Aurora black-ops hypersonic spyplane ( the real story behind Area 51 apparently…) is supposed to be several miles long. Or it’s the runway for Santa’s black-ops hypersonic sleigh and reindeer…the cold location, the dates…it all fits!
|
: ) cm’on guys, leave x-files alone… if there was really something do you think they would just say “hey, look at this black box, i’m hiding something here… you fools…”, they would have cloned some green here and there and nobody will never know… but sorry if i’m too realist : )
|
There are mountians around bolth areas, it would take quite a graphic artist to complete those images sirio.
|
Heinrich, no hombre, it was great somebody asked Google about it. Well done. Surprised they replied at all, so, well done for Google too. As for the black strip, It is just too perfect to be a satellite problem, that’s what I think. Of course it is an uninformed opinion based on looking at a great number of digital files… The missing information could have been extrapolated, the overlap fixed. Regarding what could be hidden under that, if anything, I’ve no clue. I’m inclined towards Sion’s theory, although it is below the Arctic Circle… :-)
Saludos,
Luis
PS: BS=Bullshit

Guys, try to have a look at Area 51 on Google Local?! You want find it there. They are smart enough not to provide enough data zo zoom in to see anything. So why blackening anything else out???

"if there was really something do you think they would just say "hey, look at this black box, i’m hiding something here… you fools…"They might….they just don’t want you to know what’s there. They don’t care if you know that you don’t know whats there, as long as you don’t know what’s there… ...do we know that we don’t know what’s there? Yes. Do we know whats there? Nope. So why should ‘they’ worry? Mission Accomplished. I’m going for a nap because I’m beginning to sound like Donald Rumsfeld now. Just as a sidebar, I used Google Earth yesterday to look at the secret CIA interrogation station in Afghanistan, known as ‘The Salt Pit’ (gulp…). When I zoomed in, the picture went hazy and Google Earth crashed. Eek! So if I have an ‘unfortunate accident’ in the next few days you’ll all know why…
