who has the copyright of the Abugraib photos?

hello I would like to discuss with you about something.
surely everyone of you saw the photos of Abugraib.
they are not released but in the newspaper you reed down the name of big newsagency
who gives these agencies the copyright ?
did they not belong like amusing-prove the people that/those made?
it is normal for the newspaper that they pay ?
did they not question what they paid?
is this everyday life of the media ?
