Why worry about DNG
DNG, Digital Negative, file format is being promoted as the best option to save your digital photos in order to ensure you will be able to read them not only cross platform but on other image reading applications. This is especially being put forward as a means to also ensure you can read them in the future.
I do most of my work with CS2 in Raw format. I doubt that will change and I’m sure Photoshop is not going to go away. So I’d just like to know if anyone out there uses this format and what their benefits have been.
Last thing, it also claims it’s a good way to exchange files. Hmmm, I don’t like the idea period of giving a digital file that you never really know if the client or whoever deletes, but giving a Raw file is, tricky and dangerous.
