Graduated from the IRIS Centre in 2001, then laureate of a “ Défi Jeune” (=Youth Challenge) grant, William is 31 years old; his work deals with social issues (street children in the Philippines, evolution of mentalities in Singapore…), as well as news international topics (the tsunami aftermath in Sri Lanka and Indonesia); He works with the French (Le Monde 2, l’Express…) and foreign press (Days Japan, D Donna), for NGOs, and for institutional entities. In 2004, he won the first prize of the (french) Social and Documentary Photography Award. In 2005, the Lyon Museum commissioned him an exhibition on the Madagascan community in France. Since 2006, he regularly works on Aids and Malaria pandemics, in collaboration with several organizations and with the press. In 2007 he won the Hachette foundation grant that will fund him to do a portrait of the young and fragile democracy in Kyrgyzstan. In early 2008 he was awarded the 3rd prize of the World press photo contest (contemporary issue) and then the 1st prize at the Picture of the year (general news reporting). He is based in Paris.
