working in China

Hi All, I was talking about doing work with a mutlinational company that has a China division who does community outreach to migrant kids. I’m interested in documenting this work for them. In our discussion they raised my visa status (tourist) as a possible snafu in working with them. They said they would need some kind of official reciept (fao piao) for their records and so I could be properly paid. I don’t know if this is a real issue or just a result of being unfamiliar with working with freelancers. Does anyone have experience with this or with working for a US based company that has a China division. Thanks for any help. JIm
