Zubin Pastakia was born and raised in Bombay, India. After having studied economics and film in the US, he returned to Mumbai in 2005 where he currently resides and works.
He is currently shooting a photo project, called “The Built Landscape” that seeks to explore India’s post-independence architecture as the physical manifestation of its society’s ideals. Engaging visually with the urban and arterial Indian landscape, the images question the way we relate to the built environment, how it reflects us, and how it co-exists and interacts with the natural environment.
Zubin is also working on another project that explores the inner arteries of Mumbai’s cinema halls.
Commercially, Zubin has photographed for architects, interior designers and for various other publications.
