Dear John,

I have been searching on the Nikon USA website (www.nikonusa.com) and found some info which might help under following link:

http://support.nikontech.com/cgi-bin/nikonusa.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=13811&p_created=1135806151&p_sid=E*U7K-Zh&p_lva=&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PSZwX2dyaWRzb3J0PSZwX3Jvd19jbnQ9MSZwX3Byb2RzPTE5LDE0NyZwX2NhdHM9MTg0JnBfcHY9Mi4xNDcmcF9jdj0xLjE4NCZwX3NlYXJjaF90eXBlPWFuc3dlcnMuc2VhcmNoX25sJnBfcGFnZT0xJnBfc2VhcmNoX3RleHQ9RVJS&p_li=&p_topview=1

Good Luck.

Cheers Thomas

Hi John,

Not good news, I am afraid.  I have checked my D2X manual and it says that a blinking "Err" indicates camera malfunction.  It advises to "release the shutter.  If error persists or appears frequently, consult with Nikon-authorized service representative."

These camera’s are computer’s now John, it sucks but it happens. The ERR could be just about anything. One thing you might consider is checking for firm-ware updates on nikon’s web site for your camera and make sure you have the newest updates. Nikon is forever making little corrections that may cure your problem. If not send it in for a check while it’s still under warrantee. If you’re a member of NPS (Nikon Professional Services) you should be able to get a lone of another body until yours comes back. Check on that. Best, JLee
