Wendy Marijnissen is a freelance documentary photographer from Belgium. Intuition and personal interests have always played a major role in her work and naturally guided Wendy to her subjects.
In 2008 she completed a long-term reportage in Israel and Palestine, using music to show a different part of daily life in this stressful and violent region.
In the summer of 2009 she covered the East-Jerusalem evictions and later that year went to Pakistan for the first time.
For the past 1,5 years Wendy worked in Pakistan photographing the hardships of pregnancy there. From fistula, traditional midwifes to a camp pregnancy after the devastating floods displaced millions of people in the country.
She was a finalist for the Fotovisura Grant for Outstanding Personal photography project 2010 and received a honourable mention at the Photocrati Fund 2011 grant with her work ‘Every woman counts’. She is based in Antwerp, Belgium.

De Morgen, De Standaard, De Tijd, MO*magazine, Guilt&Pleasure, World Pulse, Merip, The Jordan Times, etc…
Part of her work on fistula in Pakistan is published on the ‘End fistula campaign’ website of the UNFPA.

I’m available for assignements.

Hardcore music scene USA

Hey Everyone,

I need your help for my upcoming road trip across the North-East of the USA. From the 13th of September until the 13th of October I’ll be on the road in search of music.

I’ll be passing by Detroit, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Buffalo, New Jersey, New York, Washington DC and lots of places in between like Yonkers, Toledo, Youngstown, Alexandria,..

I would love to find and meet people that are connected to music and can show me around their towns to give me the ins and outs of the place they live in. I’m particularly looking to connect with people from the punk rock and hardcore scene and hoping to see some bands play while i’m traveling, get to see some local bars where everyone gets together and meet musicians who would be willing to be photographed/interviewed as well as let me into their band rehearsals.

Do you know where the skateparks are, where locals go to get their tattoos, where they buy their underground records in any of the places mentioned above, please let me know and get in touch. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I can’t wait to hear from you and hope to meet some of you along the road.
